Doug Kyle

Doug is probably the most successful of the Selmer Style Luthiers in the U.K. He has at present made guitars for Jimmy Rosenberg, Ian Cruicshank and Gary Potter. All of his instruments are highly sought after. This is partially due to clever advertising via Ian Cruickshanks video and book publications. This however cannot take away from the fact that he builds excellent guitars.

At time of upload prices are £1,400 (this has probably increased quite a bit by now) for the basic Selmer Style with a whopping 14 month waiting list. Though this time does vary from year to year.

Jean Pierre Favino

Jean Pierre lives in Castelbiague, in the South of France.

Jean Pierre took over the business from his father (Jaques Favino) a few years ago and has been building since 1973. The Favino is still built by one person as he does not employ anyone as his father did before him. At present I do not have any information on turn around times or prices though I do believe he has made guitars for among others the Ferre Brothers. He speaks good English so is up for a chat.

Gerrit van Bergeijk

Lot's of Django look-a-likes are not sound-a-likes. Often guitars sound very dry, not expressive. In my opinion a good guitar gives the player the possibility to colour the tone. Django gave us a lot of examples, didn't he? I try to make instruments with a good balance, loud sounding, easy to play and a wide range of colours.
