Bridge shims

Post by ya-honza »

I have some fret buzz (only on a few frets) with my SX guitar and am looking for some thin shims to try raising the bridge a little. The truss is fairly loose anyway and can't loosen it much more. I've seen people mention veneer, plastic and even sandpaper (what grade??) for use as shims. Maybe a business card would do? If I want to do it myself, what material and thickness should I use or are there commercially available shims I can buy?

The thin wood from the round Brie containers works quite well.

How very apt.

:D
They may be drinkers, Robin, but they're still human beings.
