Companion CD for Robin Nolan Gig Book

Post by fmason »

I just finished putting together a companion CD for the Robin Nolan Gig Book (the little one with 76 tunes). The CD has only the introduction and heads for the songs, which in my opinion is the best way to learn the tune (flames welcome), and it also allows all 76 songs to be on one CD. I chose Django recordings except in cases where the melody is not "played straight" at the beginning of the songs. In those cases I chose versions by Bireli (no cheesers), Tchavolo (he often plays the melody more slowly), Stochelo(orginals), and a few by Jimmy Rosenberg (Jimmy did some lesser-known tunes). Just for kicks I put Oscar Aleman's Sweet Georgia Brown on there... Also, I slowed down some of the harder heads (Sinti's Caravan for example). The only song I don't have is Bolero Blue by Paul Meader.

If anyone is interested mail me.
