Comment for next Virtual Gypsy Jazz CD

I've been playing the Virtual Gypsy Jazz CD a lot lately, and I've noticed one minor issue: the quality of the sound files varies signifigantly. I think this is caused by several things: 1. Various recording devices and media 2. Various settings with differing background noise 3. mp3 encoding at low...

Re: Fretting with yer thumb

...Suggestions, anyone? As Meshugy mentions the palm comes in close to the neck. Another thing I've found is that, right or wrong, the left elbow tends to come up, and possibly closer to the body (assuming a right handed player, OK?). One final thing, I find that there are 2 ways of using the thumb...

Missing the Point

I'm sorry if I ruffled some feathers. My intention was to make a few points about positive directions which could be taken regarding this "putting every Django song on a web site" idea. I doubt that anyone here will dispute that artists have to work hard for their peanuts. Or that Django's...

Re: Don't worry

Than listen to clips at towerrecords.com, towerrecords.co.uk, fnac.com, amazon.fr, amazon.de, amazon.com or any number of online retail outlets - some people don't care about quality...the fact that they are available at all is wrong. How odd... An independent artist telling me go to any number of ...

Don't worry

I personally like the fact that I can hear music without buying it from whoever happens to control the copyright at any given moment. As far as piracy, I wouldn't worry. This guy has some of the worst quality mp3s I've ever heard on his site... I already have a headache and I've only listened to one...

Sinti Swing Quartet

For some reason I can't find mention of this fine band in the forums. Their web site is definitely worth a look, and there are lots of sound clips available in the mp3 section.

DVD Region Codes are a pain in the rump. According to several internet sources, you CAN play DVDs from anywhere in the world, If you want to buy a "region free DVD player "(search google) or if you hack your already-purchased player. For the lazy: These are about $90, (I haven't tried thes...

Robert Normann mp3s

Here's a link to Robert Normann's music samples to download (click on Ikke Døpt links). It's pretty cheesy electric jazz, but apparently this guy did his time as he was born in 1918. There appear to be some Django-esque elements to his playing. Also, he did some Django songs on "Tricky Fingers&...

Zoot wrote:Hi Guys
So we may have to prefix the chord text with something like :Am6
how about if you had a [chords] metatag, that way you start a chord arrangement "block" and when you finish you type [/chord]. I think that would be consistent with the forum style.

Piece of crap, eh? What is the tune he is playing in Video3? I think it's Thelonius Monk but can't remember tune name, maybe "Epistrophy" or something... Video1=La Gitane, Video2=Swing Valse, as someone probably already said.

...(That Bbm7, E9 setup looks great, by the way.) Failing all that, though-and I can certainly see why Zoot would take a pass-I'd be happy with all of us agreeing on one (relatively) simple way to post changes. Thanks for that. After researching extensively, I learned a bit about HTML and why it's ...
