Re: Rare Django Photos

Here is a rarely seen photo where I think Django looks particularly silly. It was taken on 1st December, 1937 but I feel it has been doctored in some way. I have another photo taken at the same time and the backgrounds do not match at all.

Re: Rare Django Photos

The one of Django playing the violin standing up has Gus Viseur on guitar and Alix Combelle at the piano from 1942. Ah, of course Gus Viseur, the famous guitarist!!! Playing with Django, the famous violinist!! ... So by that rationale,Alix Combelle, must be a fiddle player by trade, and a pianist w...

Also, an extremely rare unedited image of Django Reinhardt and our favorite doc in Aquarium, New York on October the 30:th. The other oft-seen image with David Rose was obviously photoshopped.
 What a pathetic thing for that David Rose to do!! He must have been some sad chancer.

Re: Rare Django Photos

The photo taken of them in a club sitting by customers with champagne on the table was taken at in the summer of 1937 at Big Apple - Chez Bricktop and the guy sitting behind Joseph is definitely Gusti Malha.

Re: Rare Django Photos

Says "Circa 1940". Perhaps earlier? Really now. Whose guitar is it? Thanks for the links. Yes obviously earlier than 1940 as Grappelli was in England then. Probably before 1939 also.I rather doubt it was Django's guitar as he often could not be bothered to take one to a gig let alo...

Re: Django Photos - Samois 1953 Last photos ever taken of Dj

The one of Django squeezing his nose was taken much earlier in 1943 and the final compilation has five shots from Club St Germain des Pres, 1951. The real colour and the black & white Samois photos from 1953 were taken at different sessions as Django is wearing a different jacket and scarf. I am...

Re: Rare Django Photos

The second photo down is incredibly rare. I have never seen it before. A great find! I do not think that is Gusti Malha in the first photo. It does not look anything like him. I think Anne Legrand has made an incorrect identification. Charles Delaunay stated that the photo was taken in 1931. Legrand...

Django Reinhardt Musical!!

Jerome Diamant-Berger claims to be "preparing a musical for next year on the life of Django"!!! His grandfather produced "Clair Du Lune" in 1932 where we see and hear Django for the first time.

I wonder if the Django character will be singing and dancing in it?

I have a "D" hole guitar with the model No. MR-302. It is a Takeharu guitar made by the Kiso Suzuki Violin Company.

Good suggestion. I have become increasingly concerned that people seem to becoming more interested in the music than picks. A ridiculous situation that needs to be quickly redressed.
