Hello from Wales

Writing the Christmas cards got me thinking about saying hello to all my friends in Gypsy Jazz land - saving writing more cards. I am now at Bangor University, living near Pwllheli and doing most of my playing down here. If any of you are thinking about visiting this part of the Llyn Peninsula next ...

Headway is a great amp but make certain you get the new model. I did some R&D for them and suggested they have an asignable effects option between the channels and a better speaker. The new model addresses these issues. I use a 120 Headway as I like the better headroom. The AER is great but does...

Some guitars suit 10's and some cheaper guitars need 11's to get the going. 11's kill the sound of my VRB but i need 11's to get the Gitane to speak. Django used 10's on his Selmer as 11's are a recent invention.

Try them both before you order.

The best bet is contact Chris Rudd at the wholesalers, Gremlin. He will know where they all are - infact he could probably deal with you direct if you mention me. http://www.gremlinmusic.co.uk/ I don't know what the later batches are like and if they are set up so try before you buy. Mine came via t...

My request was for a JJ oval hole model but with bird's eye maple back and sides and with standard bindings. I also asked for a neck set that would give me enough room for a Stimer and aa aged natural (honey) finish.

This was the result

Andy here! The model that has my name on it was made as a favour to me when I was with Jorgenson's band. What happened was the guys in America liked the concept of a high spec maple guitar and planned it for production - without my name on it. What happened then was that the first batches came out w...

I am happy for you Tim. I am also very happy to see my fellow Manc Mike Walker get of his arse and record a CD - and get it to number one. The guy is the nearest we have got to producing a world class guitarist so now something may start happening. He was doing a live show last night with a full orc...

I have heard he is inside foe his own protection. There is something about Dutch law not recognising Habeas corpus and an individual can be locked up if they could commit a crime. More info needed but it could be that it is the best place for him - particularly if he is treated.

Nice guitar. Gibson Es-175, probably a '54. Changed tuners, my guess is that Adrain Ingram had it at some stage, bore, bore.......

Cabo at Samois

I was looking for Samois clips on YouTube and saw this! Cabo complaining about dirty strings, John Wheatcroft on a leftie Manouche and me trying out a nylon string mac. Tim Kliphuis comes and asks us to play with him as he isn't happy with the dutch group he's been billed with - sees Cabo bursts out...
