That is really sad, I loved his work. I've just found out today that his old bandmate in the great fusion group Isotope - guitarist Gary Boyle, has the dreaded big C.

Let us hope that Gary can fight it.

Precisely - hence my question. It is not beyond possibilty that Chris has got the story half cocked (or Maneti Jnr got going at an early age).

Another young'un

Chris Hayward has just got back from his place in Samois and tells me there are a couple of kids (aged around 10) ripping up Chez Fernand. One is Richard Maneti's son (Romane's grandson - God I feel old) and the other "Django's great great great grandson". Checking the Samois line up there...

You are right of course Teddy - but, in reality it isn't quiet as black and white and that and this is why there is a musical instrument business. I have said here many times I had the best guitars I ever owned thirty years ago and have wasted huge amounts chasing fads and dreams over the years. Cle...

True, I drilled the holes for a volume control as it had a Bartolini pickup fitted. I regret selling that guitar. I had just got divorced and had to raise some cash for a flat so sold a shed full of really great guitars. Jorgenson still rates that as his favourite sounding guitar. I got a real bollo...

Johnny Roadhouse RIP

My old friend who passed away aged 88. A good innings considering the way he lived in his formative years!!! Johnny was the best alto sax player in Manchester and probably the UK. He was lead alto with the BBC NDO for years and did every sax session of note in the area for decades. I only got to wor...

I don't know where it came from but my i-pod now has all of DR's tracks in date order grouped by session. My guess is by June this should have done the rounds. As for Spotify it is the DBs!! I use it all the time for reference but understand that although they dropped the invite only thing in Februa...

Hi The last time I got my own guitar back from France it cost me £40 extra to a £19 ticket on Ryan air. Personally with the GB pound at an all-time low with the Euro (now £1 = 1 Euro) I would buy at home. It is worth considering the French VAT rate on guitars is higher than the UK also. I bought a D...

The AER is a funny beast in that it has a mid-range hump that can be a usuful with a Bigtone but a bugger with a mic. What I do is lift the unit on a chair to remove some of the lower end and make certain the amp is positioned to the left of me to help with feedback issues. If you have a XLR balance...
