Re: Samois 2012 Info and accommodation

Hi there, what are your rates for saturday night? (festival). I live in Suresnes, so normally I don't get hotels/B&B so close to home, but if you're offering a reasonable rate, why not?

Re: Stolen: 2003 Dell'Arte Anouman 14F

Hey Dennis, do you still have his number? Sorry, I didn't check this board or this thread for a long time. I kind of gave up hope on recovering the guitar, too much time has passed, but at least I can corner Mayo somewhere and demand compensation for the $2,800 guitar he stole from me. You in France...

Re: paris - where are the gigs

pick up a copy of the LYLO (Les Yeux Les Oreilles) at any respectable jazz bar. It's a free booklet-sized guide to two weeks of all kinds of music in the region Parisien. And don't ask for "gypsy jazz" when you're in France. Use the correct term. The listings will be under "jazz manou...

Cheese Cake

Just curious if anyone else likes this Dexter Gordon classic?

It makes me feel good on rainy days.

Sax/trumpet players love it for obvious reasons, but I've also found violinists, pianists and guitarists who like it too.

Anyone?

All The Things You Are

I play this song a lot in my trio (straight-ahead jazz style, not manouche) and remembered that Stephane and Django did a pretty nice ballad version of this song on guitar and violin. Does anyone else love to play this song? Do you play it in D-flat (Db)? A-Flat (Ab)? How do you arrange it? (e.g., g...

no happy ending yet. The word is that Mayo was embarrassed by the entire incident and handed the guitar off to a cousin or relative somewhere in Alsace. On my last trip to France, I didn't have the time or the resources to track Mayo down. If anyone knows of his whereabouts, or the location of my gu...

Thanks for the responses. My friends in Paris are on the lookout for Mayo and will corner the fat pig one of these days. Mayo, if you are reading this, do the right thing and return to me the Dell'Arte that you stole from me, or I will contact the police in Strasbourg and Paris to track you down and...

Stolen: 2003 Dell'Arte Anouman 14F

If any of you see Mayo Hubert, kindly tell the thief that he owes me a replacement guitar for the 2003 Dell'Arte he stole from me in Paris after the Les Nuits Manouches concerts at L'Europeen. I will also accept 2,000 in Euro as a cash equivalent. I am not making this up. Alain Cola can confirm that...

Yoshi's 2005 Django Reinhardt Project feat. Angelo Debarre..

Excellent shows! Angelo is the man! On Thursday, Samson played my guitar, again! Remember what happened last year? :) David Sanchez and Florin Niculescu trading fours? Wow! Now that was something! I will never forget the Friday night performance of Duke Ellington's Caravan. Incroyable! If you're wit...

It's all starting to come together...

I just wanted to thank everyone for all the technique advice. Learning this style of guitar playing has been challenging but highly rewarding. It's all starting to come together for me, finally. On Monday night, I sat in with Lavay Smith and her small group at Enrico's in San Francisco for a few son...
