Gary Moore

I didn't think I would be the first to post this but Gary was a cracking guitarist and 58 is too young.

God bless. RIP.

I'm with you Imb on this. In fact I am doing my gigs on a Collings flat top now with a set of 13-56 bronzes. Dupont VRB is getting wrecked so its in the cupboard. I've watched videos of myself and it is now apparent I sound like me regardless of what I play. Nylon, bronze or Argies. Should have real...

I use a standard set of 13 gauge D'addario flats on all my electric archtop jazz guitars - and they are at least 25" scale. I also use a 2mm pick. I use 13's bronze on my acoustic Super 400. I use a 2mm pick with 10-46 sets on my tele but find it easier to play fast passages on the heavier stri...

This is becoming interesting! A couple of years ago I did a similar weekend as a guest of an acoustic guitar web community. What they did was every year book a large rural house with accommodation used by the walking types. They underwrote it by taking money off the web group in advance and got in c...

Agree totally! Jorgenson banned minor 7ths in his group. He had a particular aversion to them in Nuages!! It is worth mentioning however that as a soloist you can use this trick to good effect. If the harmony is the V chord then as a soloist you can treat it as a ll chord. Minorising the dominant as...

Angelo Debarre played one of those Godins in Samois at the unveiling of Django's statue. Sounded OK to me.

Django article in magazine

The new Guitar Techniques mag out today (15/07/10) has a nice article in DR's playing style and has analysis of 25 Django licks by John Wheatcroft. All these are written out and recorded by John on a CD that comes with the magazine. Good stuff!

Maybe something to practice if you have a quiet weekend?

Sorry for delay in responding Rene but both me and guitar were in France. Rob took my deposit just over a year ago and completed it just before I left for Samois. I didn't like some things (we agreed from the outset it was an experiment) so he has taken it straight back this week and is fixing it up...
