New guitars sound thinner and less resonant. They are choked a bit. They will become a bit more resonant and fuller, and more responsive with a bit of play.

Not a new custom shop L7-C because those things are terrible! Any particular reason you're looking at a cutaway? I've been playing my Eastman 805 non-cut fo the last couple months and haven't found the need for a cutaway. Plus any archtop without a cutaway will sound way better (acoustically) than o...

I Need Strings in San Fran

Hello All, I'm in San Francisco this weekend and need a set of GJ strings. I'll make due with Dell Artes or anything like that (I don't need real argies or anything) Who stocks them? I should mention I'm staying in SF proper (on Market and Valencia). I'd need to get these sometime this afternoon. If...

It's funny - I was thinking when I saw the first post, "Why the hell would you want to plut flats on a mac?" Seems completely contrary to the whole vibe and spirit of the instrument.

Now I guess there's precedent.

I really liked my Ibanez PM20, and I've played AF75's in stores. I think the Ibanezes are really well made low-end guitars, and the PM20 is just as good as plywood gibson, in terms of quality. I think the ARIA's have played are good looking but all terrible sounding. They have D'Aquisto copies that ...

Coming to London this weekend

There's a classic axiom I think applies here:
You have to learn to rules before you can bend (or break) them.

Let's face it - its all been done before. Its only after you have a grip on something that you can begin to go beyond it.

Changes

I would also recommend Honeysuckle Rose and Rosetta (or Cherry or Coquette which have somewhat similar changes). And perhaps Rose Room or I can't Give You Anything But Love. Although maybe these should go at the end of the list, after someone's already tackled the first part of the list. Some of oth...

I found them in a fakebook originally, but the changes were really over extended and complicated, so I had to de-bop-ify them. These sound exactly right with the BG Sextet version with Charlie Christian. I could imagine an earlier version having that A7. It wouldn't interfere with the melody. Someti...
