Milko

Postby Carter O'Brien » Mon Jun 07, 2004 3:01 pm

Does anyone know anything more about the apparent authorship debate over this tune? I went to gadjodrom's grille page and found this:

<i>

Sujet à controverse puisque deux musiciens, Moréno et Titi Winterstein se l'attribuent[/i]

which freetranslation.com gave as roughly this:

Subject to controversy since two musicians, Moréno and Titi Winterstein themselves attribute it.

Anyone know more? thanks!

Carter,

This came bubbling up when I was looking for good changes for Swing 85.

I'm not sure it will give you the exact answer, but it does a nice job of illustrating the borrowing that happens so often in jazz. Hope that helps you out-do you guys use Milko in your sets?

Best,
Jack.

Ahh, thanks for the tip, Jack-

We play Milko pretty regularly, and it looks pretty likely it will be on our next CD, all that was driving us nuts was finding out who's tune it is, so we can get the legal stuff squared away - so this is very helpful, as if Swing 85 is also by Titi then I think we can't go wrong crediting it to him-

much obliged!

Carter,

I don't know where the gadjodrom site got that information from - Moreno's CD Yochka credits the tune to Titi Winterstein.
