Gypsy Jazz Endings

Postby hullcityfc2002 » Tue Jul 13, 2010 1:38 pm

Hi, does anyone have tabs for common endings of Gypsy Jazz tunes?

I am particularly after the one I hear all the time e.g. on the end of Les Doigts De L'Homme's "Old Man River" on 1910...?

Is just a little passage of octaves -if you are not familiar with this technique -here it is

Yes cheers, it is the teeny bit after the octaves i was after. I suppose I should stop being lazy and work it out for myself?

To end on a C chord it would be

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
---5-2---4-----2------------5----
-5-----3---5-2---3--------- 5----
---------------------5-2-3---3----
-----------------------------------

Although there might be a nicer way of fingering that

Really like using this one, fits in where you would stop dead on a c major chord on beat one of the bar - if they haven't lined up properly it's supposed to be 4 chord stabs, the first one is the normal C ending chord. They're all staccato stabs, sounds nice to play another c chord afterwards, preferably a cocky 'ending chord' I'd almost never use anywhere else cause you can't finger it in real time like a C major 9. Got it from the main riff on 'Duke and Dukie'

--8--8--8-------------------
5-6--7--8------------------
5-7--8--7------------------
5-6--7--8-------------------
3--------7-----------------
