Lollo

With just less than a week to go until Le Q's Dutch patron Lollo Meier returns to the bar, we thought we'd send a quick message to remind you about the concert.

Among the gypsy jazz musicians that play guitar in the style of Django Reinhardt, there can be
few who stand out like Lollo. A Dutch gypsy,
Lollo was raised on gypsy Jazz and started playing at the age of 12 with members of his family. Lollo's style is true gypsy, understated and beautiful, whether perfoming classics of the genre or his own compositions. He made the final of the 2005 International Songwriting Competition, with Melody For Le QuecumBar, coming out with an honourable mention.

Lollo has graced our stage on many occasions, drawing forth praise from the London Evening Standard's Jack Massarik, who noted in 2003, "Brilliancies came and went so fast that there was hardly time to applaud until the end".
Lollo's talent is undeniable, and the rest of the quartet - Andre Donni on clarinet, Johnny Gee on double bass and fellow patron Dave Kelbie on rhythm guitar - constitute a solid and wonderful musical showcase for Lollo's playing.

Lollo will be holding a gypsy swing guitar workshop in the bar on Saturday, 6 May 2006, at which guitarists of all standards are welcome.
Enjoy a day's tuition by Lollo in the company of fellow enthusiasts, all in the bar itself where this music is celebrated.

Tickets for the concerts are £15 each, and for the workshop £30. Buy from our online shop at http://www.quecumbar.co.uk/catalog. Lollo is a truly inspiring performer and this concert promises to be too good for any gypsy swing fan to miss.

We look forward to seeing you there!
