Hi,

I often see people do a tremolo on a chord in their solo.
What kind of chords can use for such things? For example in the minor swing?
I have no idea what kind of chords to use in solo and everytime I try it sounds bad.

Here are some basic ideas from this thread:
http://www.djangobooks.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1033

Some shapes a second guitar might use for tremelo fills and the like:

Am:

-6---
-5---
-7---
-5---
-----
-----

-----
-12-
-11-
-10-
-----
-----

-----
-10--
-9---
-10--
-----
-----

-12--
-13--
-14--
-----
-----
-----

Most of the above you can just transpose for Dm...
Then, E7:

-4----(also movable in 3 fret intervals as a diminished voicing)
-3----
-4----
-----
-----
-----

-10-
-9---
-9---
-9---
-----
-----

-7---
-7---
-7---
-6---
-----
-----

-----
-15--
-13--
-14--
-----
-----

Best,
Jack.

Tach,

What about this one:
Code: Select all

--4---
--5---
--5---
--4---

But I think it´s nothing more than just one of the many diminished variants!

Greetings to Berlin!

no that's not a diminished chord, it is an Aminor6 with a major 7th

or it can also be used over a D7 chord! (D9#11!!)... or it can be also used over Ab7 (Ab7#5)

indeed it can have many uses - I was just talking about how it usually functions in minor swing.

for instance it is a moveable shape if you think in terms of whole tone stuff. That voicing can be a D9#11, E9#5 etc.
