cheap D hole guitar

Postby Jamie » Mon Oct 04, 2010 6:26 pm

I play a lot of acoustic music, mostly folk and Jazz.
I need a guitar that is loud and cuts through in sessions, but im not exactly aiming to be the next Django.

Everytime I have played alongside D hole guitars they seem to have the projection i'm looking for both chordally and lead, so Im looking into getting a relatively inexpensive one to see how it works out.

main options in my price range seem to be:

Aria MM 10
Gitane D500

is the Gitane really going to be that much better for the money (I know it has ebony fingerboard etc)?

so, any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Im in the UK, and there aren't a lot of options in my local area, so mail ordering "blind" will probably be the only option.

For the money, the cigano. The gitane is better but not twice the price better!

I played a Gitane D500 in my local shop, the other day, and it was as good as almost anything, to be frank. It had the chunky neck not the slim one, and a vastly improved steeper neck angle. A redesign perhaps. I see a lot of people buying more expensive guitars, because they just can't believe the Gitane's can be that good for the money. Madness.
