I want to see some board wear on my guitar, it adds character.

I've wondered about this. I don't know if they kill sound at all, but they look a bit odd. I think I like the worn look aswell. Dorados guitar on the Vienne dvd just looks fantastic. BTW does anyone know what guitar this is, age etc?

I thaught that the pickguard would have affected my guitar tone, but now that I have put on one clear pickguard I can't hear any difference in sound, but my top is safe from scratches and I can strung more freely (and my gypsy picking has improved).
I have chosen a thin clear pickguard that stays in position without adhesive, which can be shaped by yourself, bought on ebay from USA:
