Samois 2010

The Samois campsite is 'closed until further notice' (according to the French version of the festival website).

Does anybody know any more about this? Is it likely to reopen in time, for example?

If it's anything like the meadow outside my front window, run a couple of cars over it and it'll look like the Ypres front in no time - they're probably trying to prevent a quagmire.

BTW @astrakat where in Devon are you? Am down relatively often to see family but haven't checked out the GJ scene till now. Anywhere near Barnstaple?

Cheers, swing68

Camping closed

Postby hullcityfc2002 » Thu Apr 01, 2010 2:12 pm

We rang Petit Barbeau and it is indeed closed all year and Samareau is all booked up... Oh dear. Is anyone considering camping further away?

Here are some options:

Not sure how many gypsy jazzers will be there though? :(

Man, that line up is the shit! :D You might be lucky by the way, but it is a gamble. What with it being the 100th it could be rammed, but alot of people have always just camped along the seinne on the way into Samois, they never seem to have trouble, although "it is not safe" thievery is well known, so you would need a camper or something. Good luck!

It seems that Petite Barbeau will be open after all...

The festival site now sounds slightly less negative:

'Le Camping de Samois (réservations impossibles pour le moment)'
In theory, practice and theory are different; in practice, they're not.

The festival website now reads more positively and sounds as though it will have the answer at some point in the not too distant future:

'Samois campground : reopening approximately on the 20th of April. The reservation number will be communicated soon. '
In theory, practice and theory are different; in practice, they're not.
