Your 5 favourite Song besides Gipsy Swing

Postby Rookie » Thu Apr 13, 2006 7:42 pm

Hi,

I'm always asking myself, what kind of music people around listen to...

All right

1. Pixies - Where is my mind
2. Social distortion - don't drag me down
3. Bob Marley - No women, no cry (live)
4. Die toten Hosen - Bonnie und Clyde
5. Funny van Dannen - Kapitalismus

Forgive me for my bad taste, I'm still soo young (16)

I'll think you'll get a lot of jazz-related responses.

For me, other artists/groups that I like to listen to are: Pat Metheny, John Scofield, Medeski Martin & Wood, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Shakti, Zakir Hussain, Led Zeppelin, Tool, Meshuggah, Shpongle, Tuck Andress, Jim Hall, Wes Montgomery, Charlie Christian, George Benson, Jimmy Bruno, Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment...

I can go on... Simply put, good music knows no boundaries!

Moonlight on Vermont.....(or pretty much anything) Beefheart
Failure.......................The La's
Deacon Blues.............Steely Dan
Beautiful Boy..............Lennon
God Only Knows..........Brian Wilson

I suppose that is a small cross section of one genre.....how hard is that?

While we are on an 'other than gypsy' subject my friends have just released a great album. They are called LOKA and the album is Fire Sheperds they are signed to Ninja and it is very interesting.

Sorry... I seem to have stumbled into a serious discussion about non gypsy jazz music here..
Apart from Uncle Teddy's obvious take on humour with Mr Dury,
can someone please tell me if this is the 'Taking The Piss Section' or please give me directions......
Alors! Un, deux...

Good point. I'll move it to the "Guitar, picks and strings....." section as soon as I get a chance.

Thank you. Sir Ted
Although my choice would have been 'Plaistow Patricia' for Mr Dury.
