OH, I replied to how long I have played guitar, not how long I've played GYPSY style. For the latter, you could say I never played it.

Where's the started in the 1950's category?

First heard Django in 1955. - No such thing as "Gypsy Jazz" in those days. - No such thing as "authentic". - "La Pompe" considered a heavy, unswinging, ponderous rhythm. Django a "yesterdays" man.

i would have made more categories for the 70s, 60s, and 50s, but the polling interface would only let me put 7 items in the poll question. remember that in the future!

oh well, since the gypsy jazz revolution really started in the 80's (wasnt there a dark ages in the 60's and 70's??) then go ahead and just put your vote in the 80s category.

I've been using a xylophone. No wonder those chromatic runs sounded a bit off...
