YouTube Gypsy Jazz Tune - What Is It?/Opinions?

Postby Tomaz » Tue Jun 22, 2010 2:04 am

Hi I'm new to the site,

I've had a side-interest in gypsy jazz music ever since my former guitar tutor turned me onto it a few years back. Today I recorded a tune he taught me for YouTube, but I have no idea what on earth it's called and I've lost the sheet music. Was just wondering if anybody might be able to recognize it?

I was also hoping for a bit of input on my playing. If you check out my YouTube videos you'll see that it's not my usual style, but it's something that I have a lot of fun playing.

Many thanks,
Tom :D

Hi Tom

For someone who does not play this style you have done well. You have good timing and an idea of the shape of the chord progression and how to go about soloing on it. I think if you wanted to concentrate on it you could get quite good at gypsy jazz.
