lulu swing

Just added this one to the repertoire, but I need to find some good recordings for the library. Any favorites, anyone?

Thanks,
Jack.

Good yet bizarre version by Cafe Noir -- with whistle-ing. Of course the videos on 'Alors... Viola' are a great resource.

This song is woefully under-recorded. The only versions that come to mind are:

1. the video which you can watch if you put Tchavolo's Alors...Voila! into your computer

2. the original with Lulu Reinhardt and Hans'che Weiss

3. a version by the freres delacroix

I have posted the latter two here:

One other thing you could do is listen to songs with the same chord progression, such as Exactly Like You.

Thanks, guys. I'd forgotten about the Alors?...Voila! version, which was right under my nose. Nick, what album is the Reinhardt/Weiss version from? I can't seem to get enough Hans'che lately.

Actually, I can't seem to get any; the link over there won't let me download the file ("Operation Timed Out"). Could it be too big? I'll give it a whirl at work on the faster connection.

Thanks again,
Jack.

Hey Jack - the Hans'che and Lulu album (which I believe was Lulu's first album) is called Musik Deutscher Zigeuner (like so many albums, a few of which, like this one, are not included on the MDZ CDs). I have the original vinyl LP which I found on ebay - a lot of Hans'che LPs turn up on ebay. If you like I can send you the file directly over email - PM me with your address.

There is a recording of Lulu Swing on one of the Latcho Drom studio CDs - La Sorciere, I think...

Pretty good version and good tunes throughout that recording.
